All upcoming Ryan Reynolds movies

Ryan Reynolds’ new film projects are almost always guaranteed to be blockbusters. From his best to worst films, Ryan Reynolds is constantly entertaining, and although he has played more serious roles in films like The Amityville Horror, Reynolds is best known both on and off the screen as a comedic presence and romantic lead. He was already a notable name before taking on the lead role in 2016’s Deadpool, but that film’s hugely successful release – coupled with Reynolds’ talent for social media and viral marketing – made him one of the most popular stars in. Hollywood today. Following the release of Deadpool 2 in 2018, the superhero franchise was effectively discontinued due to Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Since then, Reynolds has voiced an adorable miniature detective in Detective Pikachu, starred in the Netflix action comedy Red Notice, and even appeared in Taylor Swift’s “You Need To Calm Down” music video.

Today, Ryan Reynolds’ new film Deadpool 3 is arguably the actor’s most anticipated project. This is especially true since Reynolds confirmed via social media that Hugh Jackman would be joining him in Deadpool 3 as Wolverine. That said, Deadpool 3 is certainly not the only new Reynolds movie to watch. Here are all the new Ryan Reynolds movies coming out, including a musical inspired by the Christmas Carol.

Fiery (2022)

The Spirited musical is one of Ryan Reynolds’ most intriguing new film projects, as it sees the actor tread entirely new ground from his previous work. Reynolds will produce alongside Will Ferrell, with Sean Anders and John Morris directing, in a live-action adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, acquired by Apple in October 2019. Spirited is a retelling of the classic tale and also starring Octavia Spencer , Ferrell and Sunita Mani. Spirited is currently in post-production and is slated for release in late 2022, making it Ryan Reynolds’ next upcoming film.

Futha Mucka (TBD)

While it cannot technically be called Ryan Reynold’s new film, the short animated series Futha Mucka is definitely worth watching as it features the vocal talents of Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson. Futha Mucka was announced in 2020 for Quibi, but the streaming service has since been shut down. That said, it’s possible that Futha Mucka will continue to be released as the Roku Original at some point.

Daily Tips for Parents (TBD)

Ryan Reynolds’ new film Everyday Parenting Tips is based on an article in the New Yorker. It will be another comedy, in which Reynolds will play a father struggling to raise his children in a world overrun by monsters. Paul King will direct the film, which is currently in pre-production.

Deadpool 3 (November 8, 2024)

The Deadpool 3 sequel has been in limbo for a while, but Ryan Reynolds’ new film is now officially in the works and will be the canon of the MCU. The previous two Deadpool films have a combined total of nearly $ 1.5 billion at the box office, so creating another sequel makes a lot of sense. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin will write the film, with Reynolds reprising his starring role. Notably, Deadpool 3 will feature the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, which means Disney could deliver on its promise of making the Deadpool sequel an R-rated movie. Deadpool 3 hits theaters November 8, 2024.

The Dragon’s Lair (2022)

One of the most anticipated new films starring Ryan Reynolds, the iconic Dragon’s Lair, an arcade game created by Rick Dyer and Don Bluth, was adapted by Netflix and stars Ryan Reynolds. Originally released in 1983, Dragon’s Lair was known for its superior graphics, fast shooting, choice-based gameplay, and infamous difficulty. The Netflix adaptation will follow the heroic knight trying to save a princess from an evil dragon and wizard. Don Bluth and Gary Goldman will direct Dragon’s Lair, which will arrive on Netflix in 2023.

Index (to be defined)

Ryan Reynolds will star in another upcoming game adaptation: Clue. Oddly enough, it might be better than Adam Sandler’s Murder Mystery, as Reynold’s Clue is a direct remake of the cult dark comedy film that nearly kicked off the murder mystery genre. Based on the popular board game, this new film by Ryan Reynolds is only the second film adaptation after the 1986 cult film starring Tim Curry. Joining Reynolds is Muppets director James Bobin, with Jason Bateman also starring.

Yes (May 24, 2024)

With John Krasinski, who will write and direct If, previously titled Imaginary Friends. Reynolds plays a guy who can interact with other people’s imaginary friends. The film will be released in theaters on May 24, 2024. In particular, Reynolds and Krasinski will star alongside The Office co-star Steve Carell, Phoebe Waller-Bridge of Fleabag, Oscar-winning actor Louis Gossett Jr. and SNL ex. Bobby Moynihan. It’s a very ambitious fantasy comedy that may be immune to Ryan Reynolds’ substandard product placement attempts, if only out of respect for the legendary cast of comedians. That said, as with all of Ryan Reynolds’ projects, it’s safer to expect the unexpected.

Red warning 2 and 3 (to be defined)

The red warnings 2 and 3 are confirmed. The 2021 Netflix action comedy Red Notice was a critical flop, scoring 37% on Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes, but that clearly didn’t deter Netflix, Reynolds, or the rest of the Red Notice cast. In fact, whatever the critics think of the film, Red Notice still recorded 148.72 million hours of viewing on the opening weekend. As a result, production is expected to begin in early 2023 on a Red Notice sequel, and it has been confirmed as the second part of a trilogy. Further details are scarce, though Gal Gadot and Dwayne Johnson will no doubt join Reynolds for Red Notice follow-ups.

Free Boy 2 (TBD)

A new Ryan Reynolds movie after Free Guy seemed inevitable, and the script for Free Guy 2 was due to be delivered in early 2022. Little has been heard since, but 20th Century Studios president Steve Asbell seems to be incredibly pleased with what saw, therefore far for the story and the script (via The Hollywood Reporter). In the interview, Asbell talked about several upcoming 20th Century Studios projects, including “more Free Guy movies to come”. The studio may have more adventures planned for Guy, the star of the Free Guy cast, or there may be spin-offs in the same universe. Regardless, Reynolds confirmed his involvement in Free Guy 2 (via The Collider), with director Shawn Levy also hinting at him being involved.

Hitman’s Possible Bodyguard / The Man From Toronto Crossover

One of Ryan Reynolds’ less concrete new films, director Patrick Hughes said he would be interested in directing a crossover between his films The Man From Toronto and The Hitman’s Bodyguard. Asked about a potential crossover in an interview, Hughe said, “We need a crossover. Because I think Ryan Reynold’s character Michael Bryce in The Hitman Bodyguard franchise has some similarities to Kevin Hart’s character in Man From Toronto. I think these two would be an embarrassing mess, between them. (Via The Illuminerdi). This brilliant crossover idea further proves that Ryan Reynolds makes action movies better than comedy. If the project got the green light, would undoubtedly be a hit, as both films have grown their own online following. Plus, it’s no secret that Hollywood is in dire need of some really fun action comedies. Currently, the idea is purely speculative, but fans of Ryan Reynolds in The Hitman’s Bodyguard (and sequel The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard) are undoubtedly hoping the crossover will become a reality.
