Jura celebrates the bicentenary of Louis Pasteur’s birth on Tuesday 27 December 2022

The Jura commemorates the bicentenary of the birth of Louis Pasteur this Tuesday, December 27, 2022. Born in Dole on the same day in 1822, the famous scientist, inventor of the rabies vaccine, is in the spotlight all day with a packed program of celebrations in Arbois and Dole.

In Dole, the day starts at 2pm in the Cours Saint-Mauris with quizzes, entertainment and games for children. The official ceremony will take place at 17:00 in front of the statue of Pasteur with fanfare and theatrical skitbefore the start of a musical wandering towards the house of Louis Pasteur.

Festive evening in Arbois with “L’anniv à Loulou”

The celebrations will also take place in Arbois, “Lolou’s Birthday”this is the name chosen by the organizers who invite you to come with a hat and a lighter, blow out the Pasteur candles. The party starts at 6.30pm in front of the Pasteur statue with mulled wine, fanfare and fireworks.
