Domination without an end product does not count in the world of football. Trophies and titles are won only by teams that know how to make the most of the opportunities that present themselves.

So when it comes to judging the quality of a team, there is no more reliable measure than games won.

In today’s list, we’ll take a look at five teams that have stood their ground in 2022, racking up plenty of favorable passing results. Here are the five European teams that have won the most matches in 2022 across all competitions:

#5 Barcelona – 31 games won

Replacing Ronald Koeman, Xavi took charge of FC Barcelona in November 2021. He is helping to turn the tables on his club, propelling them to an admirable second half of the 2021-22 season. Under Xavi’s leadership, FC Barcelona have won 14 of their 20 La Liga matches (2021-22 season) in 2022. They have lost three and drawn three of their other six encounters.

Barça won two Europa League matches before being eliminated by Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter-finals. He also won one Copa del Rey match before being eliminated by Athletic Bilbao in the round of 16.

In the 2022-23 La Liga season, Barça recorded 12 wins in 15 La Liga appearances (two draws, one loss). They achieved two Champions League victories before elimination in the group stage.

#4 Paris Saint-Germain – 32 matches won

Then, in the 2022-23 Ligue 1 season, PSG had 14 wins and two draws. Finally, in the Champions League, PSG achieved four wins in the group stage and suffered two draws.

#3 Manchester City – 37 games won

Additionally, they reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup, winning four games before being knocked out by Liverpool. Eventually, they secured a third round win in the EFL Cup before being knocked out by West Ham United in the next round.

Last year, City played 16 games in the 2022-23 Premier League, of which they won 11, lost two and drew three. In the Champions League they won four group stage games and drew the other two. Finally, in the EFL Cup, they had two big wins against Chelsea and Liverpool in the third and fourth round respectively.

#2 Real Madrid – 37 matches won

Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid completed a treble last year by winning the Champions League, La Liga and Supercopa de España. Blancos had 12 wins last year in the 2021-22 La Liga season, compared with three defeats and four draws.

Liverpool won the Community Shield 3-2 against Manchester City at the start of the 2022-23 season. Unfortunately, they have not been able to maintain this positive momentum. Last year, the Reds won just eight Premier League games in the 2022-23 season, losing four and drawing four.

In the Champions League they have won five times and lost once. Finally, in the EFL Cup, they secured a third round win over Derby County before being knocked out by Manchester City in the next round.
