Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra adds a 200MP camera and the newest processor from Qualcomm

The new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is even closer to the new Galaxy Note with flatter edges on the screen and curved sides. Also, Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone elevates its photography capabilities with a 200MP sensor and an extended RAW mode to take advantage of such a device.

Featuring the latest Qualcomm processor, 2X Dynamic AMOLED display, 200-megapixel camera and, of course, S Pen support, the Ultra feels like the epitome of a flagship device.

The ambition to become the best camera phone on the market

Compared to the previous Galaxy S22 Ultra, the lenses of the S23 rear camera system are even larger.

The main photo sensor is able to vary the number of pixels to better suit the image conditions. It can combine 16 pixels into one for brighter, more detailed photos, or you can shoot in the full 200MP mode, which gives you much more freedom when it comes to cropping your shots.

Other Galaxy S23 Ultra improvements include a sharper 12MP front-facing camera, a new Galaxy-exclusive Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip that promises blazingly fast performance, and a flatter display optimized for S Pen use.

With the Expert RAW function to be downloaded (free) from the Galaxy Store, it is possible to take photos at 50 Mpx for more detailed and dynamic images or use the astrophoto in manual exposure or letting the device choose to capture planets and constellations with clarity. Expert RAW is supported on S23 series devices, S22 series devices, S21 Ultra, S20 Ultra, Note20 Ultra, Z Fold4, Z Fold3 and Z Fold2.

Less curved screen

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has undergone a slight makeover as the 6.8-inch QHD+ curved screen is slightly flatter. Samsung made this choice so that users can write notes and draw right to the edge of the screen using the phone’s retractable stylus. Also, with a slightly less curved screen, the S23 Ultra features slightly flatter sides making it easier to hold with a firmer grip.

Speaking of the screen, its 120Hz technology intelligently optimizes the refresh rate to smooth out the action and save battery life.

For its resistance, its Gorilla Glass promises good solidity. Rated IP68X, this Galaxy S23 Ultra can withstand immersion in 1.5 meters of water and be protected from dirt, dust and sand for 30 minutes. This is great news for a device of this price point.

Recycled materials

As for the materials of the S23 Ultra, the company uses more recycled materials for the phone, such as discarded fishing nets and recycled water barrels. PET glass films, recycled glass and marine plastics have been ECV (Environmental Claims Validation) certified. And the packaging is made entirely of recycled paper.
